Miss Earth 2001 is the very first Miss Earth beauty pageant, organized by Carousel Productions, was held on October 28, 2001 at the University of the Philippines Theater in Quezon City, Philippines. There were 42 delegates who competed in thResults


The fourty-two delegates were first trimmed down to 10 in the semi-final portion. Then, four finalists were chosen in an initial question-and-answer portion. The delegates were asked to interpret or comment on the pictures shown to them, depicting the beauty and the problems of the environment.

Note: Starting 2002 onwards, the title of 1st runner-up is Miss Earth-Air

Semi-finalists: e beauty pageant that focuses on environmental issues. Catharina Svensson of Denmark, a professional equestrienne, fashion model, and third year law student, was crowned as the pageant's first winner.

The pageant, called "Beauties for a Cause", adopted the common parts of beauty tilts such as the parade of delegates in swimsuits, the long gown, and talent competitions, but more weight was given to ecological and environmental intelligence in the interview portion.

Miss Earth was formally launched at a press conference on April 3, 2001 along with the search of Miss Philippines to represent Philippines in the international competition. Likewise, the pageant tied up with at least two international environmental groups such as the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the American Global Release to further its environmental advocacy.
